Tarpins – up to 1600m

Tarpins has been entered in a 1600 metre maiden race at Moe tomorrow. (The Cougar Bourbon Feral Cup?)

Since his last inglorious run at Werribee, he’s had a change of trainer (Cliff Brown has left Melbourne to take up an offer in Singapore), and now Jamie Edwards has taken over the job as trainer. Another new jockey is on board as well (Dean Yendall) – Ben Melham having got the flick after his last ‘jab in the ribs’ effort. Four jockeys in four races – not a good sign.

Race 2 Horse 9 at 1.55pm. The monkeys have him listed as fourth best pick, and the pre-post market has him at 13-1. Have a crack each way if you have a spare lobster in your sky-rocket.

The award for the best-named horse in the race goes to Mile High Club (By Good Journey out of Our Flying Babe).

Hey Bruce, I see Tarpins came fourth! Not bad at all – after a rocky start, this is a good result. Congratulations!
